Our Republican candidate for Mayor in Newington, Jeff Wright, has been endorsed this morning by the Hartford Courant. Wright, a member of the Connecticut Republican State Central Committee, is an excellent candidate for an open seat race.
"As a member of the MDC board, appointed by the governor, Mr. Wright distinguished himself by calling for the resignation of chairman William A. DiBella after the former Democratic Senate majority leader was found liable in a federal securities suit of taking a $374,500 fee for work the SEC said he did not do."
You may remember that we attended Jeff's announcement back in June.

Its well known in town that this guy campaigns unethically. And he doesn't have any experience to boot.
I'm a lifelong Newington republican, and we haven't had a viable, experienced candidate in Newington for a long time. Can't we get someone with some substance?
Jeff Wright has been on the State Central Committee for some time now, and seems to be nothing less than a very upstanding gentleman.
Be assured that Mr. Wright will be an excellent choice for Mayor and it speaks well of the Courant that they have recognized Jeff's talents.
I'm a fan of Mr. Wright... especially because of his fight against the Silver Fox. Good man.
I normally vote the party line, but I'm still up in the air on this one.
I served in the NPD with Rich Klett and always had a lot of respect for he and his wife. She's a lady who'd probably make a very good mayor.
I have no doubt she is a nice lady, but Jeff is a savvy gentleman. His leadership on MDC, for example, has been often commended. He is the right man for the job.
From what I've heard, there are a number of people in Newington who are dissatified with, how shall I say it....Mr. Wright's lack of attendance at the MDC meetings.
He seems to show up when the Courant's there looking for a DiBella quote, but he's been MIA for a lot of important votes that effect residents. But hey, more power to him... I guess.
