Even the Courant Agrees

News from the editorial page of the Hartford Courant today - of all things - as the high falutin' editors side with Governor M. Jodi Rell today on her veto of the bonding package.

"Connecticut has the third highest bonded debt, per capita, of all states. Gov. M. Jodi Rell was right to veto a bond package that would have kept on that course.

The governor's action Saturday put the General Assembly on notice that it has to prioritize its project wish list."

The Democrat-controlled General Assembly has piled the bonding package high with pet projects, because somewhere it makes sense for the taxpayers of Connecticut to pay for renovations to the suites as New Britain Stadium or a dozen other such projects. And, of course, it makes sense to commit to spending literally one billion dollars on the Connecticut State University System without any plan for what you will do with it - at least any plan that isn't on the back of a greasy napkin.

The Governor, as the Courant recognizes, is right to veto the bonding package and make the Democrats cut the fat.
