Thanks to a bill that Governor Jodi Rell signed today, in the event of a tied election, the candidates must hold a run-off election, instead of the traditional coin toss to determine the winner. The law stems from the 41st House District primary race between Elissa Wright and Rita Schmidt, who both won 457 votes. In the coin toss, Wright's Lucky Charms won her the nomination.
Wright ultimately won the November election. So keep those old pennies to yourself, you won’t need them in the voting booth anymore.
